Sadly, because of the current situation in South Africa where there are no consequences for people committing inappropriate, unethical and unlawful actions and where impunity holds sway, many of the good, honest, hard-working people who would never, under “normal” circumstances, break the law are saying “Well if everyone is doing it and getting away with it, why don’t I give it a go!”
The tragedy is that, as time goes by and the situation worsens, more and more people are testing the envelope and taking a chance!
We are heading into a serious downward cycle which will only be reversed when the government commits itself to taking serious and sustained action!
Personally, I don’t see any indications that this is likely to happen so the free-for-all continues unabated!
